Just kidding. Here's the story:

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick has confirmed that he is now a dog owner.  Vick said in a statement last week that he understands the strong emotions felt by some people about his family's decision to care for a pet.

PETA, People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals, was very out spoken when Vick was initially charged with animal cruelty. Senior cruelty case worker Kristen Simon says, “ …Animal abusers are usually repeat offenders more often then not. You wouldn’t allow an abuser to work in a daycare…”

Vick says the pet is well cared for and loved as a member of the family.  Vick added that this is an opportunity to "break the cycle," and that he will continue to honor his commitment to animal welfare and be an instrument of positive change. 

The 32-year-old Vick spent 18 months in prison for operating an illegal dog fighting ring.  He also wasn't permitted to own a dog for three years under the terms of his probation.  He was released from prison in 2009.
